What can't I do because of the Travel Agency Act?

ENJP

Examples of violating the Japanese law of travel agency are below.
1. Providing services related to transportation or accomodation charged by customers.
(Example 1) You plan a one-day bus tour of trekking and set up a bus fare, a meal fee and any other expenses and offer it.
(Example 2) You plan a local inspection tour including lodging and set up a participation cost containing an accommodations fee, a train fare and any other expense and offer it.

Examples of NOT violating the Japanese law of travel agency are below.
1. Providing services related to neither transportation nor accommodations
(Example 1) You plan a one-day botanical observation lecture without arranging transportation and offer it.
※Charging a meal fee, an admission fee or a participation cost is not regarded as a violation.

You need to be careful when you search for accomodations or transportations. If guides arranges them while being compensated by the customer, it is illegal. In addition, if you want to rent a car, you need to sign a contract with the rent-a-car company and pay on the day of your trip by yourself.
Under Japanese Law, it is really difficult to arrange cars, buses and so on. So, some guides might turn down offer. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
